The American Task Force for
Lebanon (ATFL) was established as an independent organization, with a
simply stated objective: "marshal whatever resources possible to
assist, direct, and persuade the various United
States government entities to provide much needed assistance to
Lebanon." The ATFL will advocate:
- the departure of all non-Lebanese forces from
Lebanese territory and the implementation of all U.N. resolutions and
international agreements regarding Lebanon;
- the assumption by the United States of an
aggressive diplomatic leadership role in the Middle East peace process,
with the assurance that a resolution will not be at the expense of the
sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon;
- the just solution to the Palestinian refugee
issue in Lebanon;
- the sponsoring of trips to Lebanon by Members
of Congress and their staffs and other prominent Americans
