    Who We Are

    The ATFL is a 501 (c)(3) non-governmental organization made up of prominent Americans of Lebanese heritage who work to strengthen the historic ties between the United States and Lebanon. For over 30 years, we have taken on critical issues to ensure US support for Lebanon’s independence, stability, cohesion, and unique model of inclusion in the region. Our members and board are drawn from corporate business, former diplomats, financial executives, policy experts, professionals in the fields of medicine, education, and scientific research, and other professions. Providing a bridge between the US and Lebanon, this all-volunteer group is dedicated to educating policy makers, the media, educators, and the think tank community on issues affecting US-Lebanon relations.

    What We Do

    Our efforts over the past 30+ years include:

    • Lifting the travel ban on Lebanon
    • Purchasing ambulances for public health services
    • Raising funds for Mine Detection Dogs
    • Providing outreach support for US assistance for the Lebanese Armed Forces and Internal Security Forces; economic assistance through USAID, MEPI, and others for humanitarian relief, funding for the American University of Beirut and Lebanese American University, rule of law and transparency projects, the public health sector, governance and democracy training, women’s economic empowerment, and many more including support for the Syrian refugees in Lebanon and their host communities
    • Conducting education and outreach efforts with the Washington DC policy-making community

    Among Our Experts Are

    The Hon. Ed Gabriel

    ATFL President and CEO on issues related to US-Lebanon diplomatic relations, security, UNIFIL, and related issues.

    Ambassador Gabriel serves as the President and CEO of the American Task Force on Lebanon. He served as U.S. Ambassador to Morocco and has an extensive background in international affairs, having convened multilateral policy forums on critical global concerns including international energy, counterterrorism, and regional security. He regularly provides commentary on events in Lebanon and developments in US-Lebanon relations.

    Jean AbiNader

    Vice President for Policy, US-Lebanon relations, regional issues.

    Mr. AbiNader is the Vice President for Policy at the American Task Force on Lebanon. He has decades of experience in public affairs/advocacy, international marketing, education and training, and project management in the Arab world. He regularly contributes analysis in a weekly blog hosted by ATFL on current events in Lebanon and the region.
